Cheesman is, today, a very nice park, just south of downtown Denver, and one of the first places around here Sharon and I investigated – at the time, with Denver Ghost Hunters. Cheesman  was basically Denver’s first organized cemetery, first burial about 1859, but went untended and mostly abandoned, and eventually a blight on the growing city.

We didn’t capture anything when we went investigating (well, some orb pics, but let’s not go there…), and actually thought the notion of getting paranormal evidence outdoors in a city park, during a fairly busy early evening, was a bit silly. But we’ve been back once or twice since then, and the fact is, actually, the place does have a somewhat strange, off-balance feel to it. And the stories from people who live around there are actually pretty creepy.

 

There are still quite a few grave-shaped depressions in the open grassy area, paradoxically easier to see by streetlamp at night than during the day. Most are now-filled-in former graves, but no way to be sure.

 

And as this story suggests, at least some are still buried there.
