Finally got all the cemeteries from the England trip loaded up to the SB Cemetery Gallery – 39 in all, bringing the entire gallery up to 331 cemeteries and 3016 photos. Head out and have a stroll through sometime, and drop us a note if you have any questions. Here’s a teaser shot – St Cyriac’s Church, in Lacock, Wiltshire (that’s me in the lower left of the photo, in the blue jacket.)
Lacock is known as the “Harry Potter” village, as many scenes from the film series were shot here. It’s a beautifully preserved medieval village – so much so that most of the village is actually owned by the National Trust - and it’s one of those weird places in England where you’re surrounded by vestiges of the 13th century alongside lines of tour buses.
Before we left on the trip, we found this interesting video of a purported ghost in the St Cyriac churchyard. Dig – you can skip to 3:05 for the ghost portion of the video:
We shot the same view when we were wandering around in the cemetery.
There were a handful of other sightseers while we were there, so we didn’t have the benefit of a peaceful day like the videographer in the YouTube video, and we also shot some video from the same vantage point. But no, we didn’t get anything of note there, and while interesting, we’re not endorsing the video as The Real Deal (neither are most of the commenters on YouTube, for whatever that’s worth.) Still, one of the best old churches and churchyards we visited.
Our next challenge is getting Google Images to actually see some of the cemetery pix. We’ve uploaded our sitemap to Google Webmaster Administration – tagging and titling not completely done on Colorado yet – and we’ll see if they start showing up in the coming weeks. One likes to think that four years’ worth of cemetery stomping and many hours of web development/uploading might result in someone actually seeing some of your work.
But the web’s a big place, isn’t it?
