…as in, actually in our home.
So, Sharon tells me last night that a few evenings ago, while she was watching Bones and I was in the study, a misty apparition of a hand appeared across the room from her. Male hand (she thinks), fingers pointed downward to the floor, about the height a corporeal hand would be if it belonged to a person sitting in the chair it appeared next to.
This is matched by odd sounds (including, she says, a “sigh”), little stuff like the TV turning itself on at night, and other things. The sounds have been a rare but persistent thing since she moved in five and a half years ago, but the “hand” and a few other things have cropped up since (here it comes) we started doing a little remodeling. Painting, furniture moving, etc.
Our house isn’t very old (built 1976), and as far as I know, it’s been tragedy-free. It’s located on high prairie grassland that was once farming land with no particular historical significance, at least since it was settled by pioneers in the early 1860′s. Prior to that, this area was wintered by the Arapaho Indians, and open grassland the rest of the time.
As far as the “hand” goes, she got up, ran her own hand through it – no temperature or EMF sensations – and it disappeared. Not dissolved – just blinked out.
Although we are paranormal investigators together, and have covered a few dozen locations in the usual manner, we have never believed our own place was haunted.
And it may not be. But we’re going to set up some equipment and see what we get.
For my part, except for finding the TV on in the middle of the night while grabbing a snack (which I attributed to a faulty on/off switch, or something otherwise mundane), I have experienced nothing.
