We spent a Saturday night up the Delaware Hotel in Leadville a couple of weeks ago. We’ve had unusual experiences there (check out our report from a couple of year ago, located on our Locations page), and we try to go up there once a year.
This was a very low-key investigation. It was Parent’s weekend for the local college, so the hotel was busy, and unless it’s a formal investigation, we don’t like interfering with a hotel’s day-to-day business.
We did manage to shoot off a number of late night stills and some extended video in our room, and did a few EVP sessions in the lobby. We caught an extremely subtle shadow on a static shot in the hallway on the second floor…but so subtle as to not regard it as plausible evidence. We also some hits on our Ghost Meter EMF detector (for an inexpensive unit, it’s actually a slick little device – check it out on our Equipment page) in the middle of the night, more or less at the same time of the night the last time we investigated there. No footsteps this time, though.
We also did some EVP work earlier in the day at the Iron City Cemetery deep in the mountains southwest of Leadville. An old mining camp, the cemetery lies off a rough 4×4 road in a nice aspen grove. Very affecting place. Nothing on the recordings, but a cool place to visit.
