Sharon caught this story out on CNN today. A coupleĀ of kids shooting video on a low-cost flip phone in Indiana caught what looks like a ghostly image (their uncle seems to think it’s his wife’s deceased grandmother) beside their Xmas tree. Unfortunately, the video’s only (thus far) appearance on YouTube is the news report, and the video is splattered with the usual TV station graphics and just-show-me-the-good-stuff editing, making the video a little hard to see and ruining the entire video in context. But…check it out:
We’ve looked at it several times, and we’re unconvinced it’s standard-issue pixelation. The news story says the video is a lot clearer with a little contrast and brightness tweaking (and naturally, they don’t show that). What’s interesting is that the family is trying to stay anonymous (a plus in favor of the video’s authenticity), and that the kids say that the image was visible through the phone but not with the naked eye…arguably a small point in its favor.
So…what do you think?
We’ll keep an eye out if a better version appears online – however, one must be cautious about seemingly intriguing evidence after it’s been ‘handled’.
